THIS POST HAS BEEN EDITED SLIGHTLY
Because EVERYBODY (Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky, Larry Pinkney, Mark Ganzer, Steve Wilson, Rehka Basu, Lenora Jean Daniels, PhD, Sharon Schmidt knows there is but one political organization - the Republicrats (or Demicans) whose sole goal is the acquistion of political power in order to be able to chose who gets the financial power. The idea is the the rich get rich while the poor get fucked out of what they already have. There are no morals for the Republicrats - only the almighty $ sign.
That being the case, those of us in the lower 98 (whose earned incomes amount to something South of, say, $500,000, are not getting our fair share of federal government services for the tax dollars we pay.
If we were to turn the FIT rates back to 1956, a time when the U.S. led the world in everything, then adjusting for inflation, the tax brackets in 2011 would look like this:
$80,000 marginal rate 26%
$160,000 marginal rate 38%
$480,000 marginal rate 78%
$800,000 marginal rate 89%
$2,000,000 marginal rate 91%
And the amount of FIT paid at various levels of wages are:
$25,000 $6,500 26%
$40,000 $10,400 26%
$50,000 $13,000 26%
$80,000 $20,800 26%
$100,000 $28,400 28.4%
$250,000 $85,400 34.16%
$500,000 $170,600 34.12%
$1,000,000 $437,600 43.76%
$5,000,000 $4,077,600 81.552%
$10,000,000 $8,627,600 86.6276%
TAXES ON UNEARNED INCOME:
CAPITAL GAINS TAX - SAY 25%
DIVIDENDS TAX - AGAIN 25%
And we should be PROUD to pay our taxes and our taxes should be spent with THESE (biblically based) priorities:
(1) Children - nutrition, shelter, preventative medical care, education
(2) Women - nutrition, shelter, preventative medical care, education, employment
(3) The homeless -nutrition, shelter, preventative medical care, education, employment
(4) The disabled - nutrition, shelter, preventative medical care, education, employment
(5) The elderly nutrition, shelter, preventative medical care, education, employment
(6) Immigrants nutrition, shelter, preventative medical care, education, employment
